The ideas and designs of Giorgio Pederzini led
to the founding of Mape in 1950, as a company for mechanical machining
of components for small motors.
The new company took its first steps in the years that saw
the rise of the Italian motorcycle industry. This was an ideal environment for
the consolidation of a company that from the very beginning demonstrated to
have fully understood and delineated the path which it was to follow.
Through a precise policy of innovation of its production system,
Mape soon became the leader in the Italian market for the manufacture
of crankshafts. The crisis that hit the motorcycle market in the 1980s was the
incentive for the company to look for new outlets, such as the agricultural
sector and recreational activities (snowmobiles, personal water craft , ATVs
and new products such as connecting rods with caps for inboard and outboard
motors).
The years have rewarded the flexibility and dynamism of Mape. It has become
the absolute world leader in the sector of built-up crankshafts, produced using a certified ISO 9001 quality system.
In the 1990s, during this phase of growth and development
of its resources, Mape opened its second manufacturing plant while simultaneously
completely renovating its main plant. In 2000, Mape celebrated its 50th
anniversary, 50 years of continual growth.
Today, the numbers unequivocally demonstrate the winning position
of Mape: the company exports more than 50% of its production, mainly
to the United States market, with the remaining 50% subdivided among the principal
European countries.
Mape however, is not stopping here. It is opening its
third plant dedicated mainly to the growth of the one piece crankshaft and cam
shaft markets and to its "racing and performance" department.
